2006 Scholarship Winners

The Northland Vietnam Veterans Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2006 NVVA Scholarship. Each year NVVA offers a minimum of three scholarships of at least $700 each. As always, it was difficult to choose the winners. We believe that this year's winners showed great pride and emotion in their writings, a true gratitude and love for those who have fought and died. For this it is with great pride that the NVVA awards this year's scholarships to:

Note from Trina: This award is such a very special honor to me because my Uncle Michael McKeever-Mareen was killed in Vietnam. My grandmother, LaVeryn McKeever-Gold Star Mother, always gives me the strength to work my hardest to become the best teacher I can be.

William Bacon

Anticipated College: Itasca Community College, Grand Rapids, MN Pre-engineering Program 2006 - 2007, UND following that.
Parents' Names:Brent and Elizabeth (Lisa) Bacon

Academic Achievements:  National Honor Society, Rotary Academic Award (Top 20 of Class for four years) attending Falls High School, Deans List Rainy River Commity College 2005-2006 as a post secondary student (attending college my senior year of high school).

Note from Corwin : I am going through the Paramedic program. I have been working at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center for 10 years as a CNA. I have been wanting to go back to school but I wanted to be sure I knew what I wanted to do first. I saw a show on the discovery channel about Paramedics and thought "Hey, that is exactly what I want to do."
